Brødrene Sperre achieves greater flexibility with Mobile pallet racking from Constructor

Brødrene Sperre recently centralised their deep freezer storage facilities into a large central warehouse in Ålesund.

Constructor was called upon to install mobile pallet racking which provides a total storage capacity of approx. 24,000 tons of fish.

Brødrene Sperre trades with both pelagic and frozen fish which is partly being sold worldwide, and partly used in their own production. The fish arrives directly from the sea and if stored correctly can be stored for several months before being shipped to its next destination.

Commercial Director Kjetil Sperre says: 'It is common practice that we sometimes store fish for our customers for up to 3 months. This may be due to our customer having a small freezer capacity and is therefore limited on space. You could say that we are an ice hotel for fish”.

Brødrene Sperre uses mobile pallet racking in their warehouse for two reasons: firstly the fish will not tolerate any pressure, and secondly every pallet must be accessible at any time. The company needs to be able to store many types of fish in many different sizes thus commanding a very flexible storage system.
