Bosch Installs Europe’s Largest Automated Solution
Constructor has recently installed 10 double Tornado’s into Bosch, Denmark. This piece of engineering brilliance, is the largest installation in Europe. The giant towers 15 metres high, and stands on a compact footprint of 180m2, offering a total capacity of 4715m2, while holding an incredible 230 draws in each tower.
The installation took place in phases over a number of years, and as the final Tornado tower was installed, the project entered into the final stage of upgrading the software on earlier commissioned towers.
The first 6 Tornados (which had been originally installed in ‘03 and ‘05) were the first to be upgraded. This project was a big challenge for both Constructor and Bosch, as the picking process continued whilst the upgrade took place.
This upgrade now enables Bosch to back up their computer software, should there be an outage and also offers increased security. The new upgrade also integrated sensors, to ensure that the trays automatically return to their original location.
To learn more about how these double Tornados have managed to successfully eliminate incorrect picks and increase the pick rate efficiency across 27,000 assigned order lines, please read in full the Tornado reference.
